Devlog 5: Ghost enemy, Level design, new items and puzzles


Hello everyone!

I have now finished making the layout of the game's setting (The mansion), a new enemy type, and some items to solve puzzles.

The Mansion

I have created all of the rooms which are all explorable. These rooms contain enemies to fight and items to progress through the game. I decided to make the layout be similar to a maze to give the effect of being lost in the mansion. I will make the rooms more detailed later on, but for now I have the basic layout.


Each room can be accessed by a door that will open when you are near it. Just be careful that there is mot an enemy behind it or around the corner. Some of these doors require a key to unlock them first.


Items and puzzles

I have added lots of new items to the game such as a valve, hammer, a lighter and more! These items will be sued to solve puzzles to progress through the mansion. I do not want to spoil them all so I will only show one of these. Please keep in mind that these mechanics do not have any assets added yet, such as 3D models, I will add them later on after I finish the functionality of these game mechanics. One of these puzzles requires the player to discover a fireplace and a lighter in separate rooms. If the player uses the lighter on the fireplace, then a door somewhere else in the mansion is unlocked. The video below shows this puzzle and the intro to the game

Ghost enemies

I have added a ghost enemy to the game, whats unique about this enemy compared to the zombie is that they are only visible in mirrors, meaning the player will need to get to a mirror if they want to easily kill the ghost. They also move faster but have less health. The video below shows this mechanic in action.
