Devlog 1: Finished main, pause and settings menu's

Hello everyone! This is my first ever devlog for "Fear Of The Unknown". I will be making more devlogs like this whenever I complete an important mechanic for the game, so you can all stay updated on the progression.

This devlog is to announce that I have finished the main, pause and settings menus for the game! The use of wooden buttons and stone frames within the UI is to convey the creepy feeling that the exploreable mansion will have during gameplay. As you can see there is a load game button. I plan to add a save feature where the player can save (and load from) their game in up to six save slots.

I have implemented a good variety of settings the each player can customize to their own play style. Each of these settings will auto save so you do not need to set them again.

Sound settings:

  • Master volume slider - controls the volume of the whole game
  • Music volume slider - controls the volume of all music in the game
  • SFX volume slider - controls the volume of all sound effects in the game, such as shooting and taking damage

Display settings:

  • Set the target frame rate from 30fps - 240fps
  • Toggle V sync (caps the fps to your monitors' refresh rate)
  • Control the resolution including 480p, 720p, 1080p, 1440p, and 4K
  • Control the screen brightness
  • Toggle showing the current fps on screen
  • List of ant aliasing options

Gameplay settings:

  • Switch between modern and tank controls. Tank controls are for players who want to recreate controls from classic horror games such as Resident Evil.

I will next work on player controls, movement and shooting. So my next devlog will be based on that when it is completed. Feel free to give feedback!
